Outsourcing firm Mitie unveiled its second new contract in as many days yesterday after signing a £100 million deal to manage buildings for broadcaster Sky.
The five-year contract, starting in January, will see Mitie provide “integrated facilities management” across Sky’s estate in the UK and Ireland.
The satellite TV giant employs thousands of people north of the Border, at centres in Dunfermline, Livingston and Uddingston. Some employees are expected to transfer to Mitie, but total job numbers will not be affected.
Mitie said the contract had “a total value in excess of £100m”. The outsourcing firm will have responsibility for delivering a range of services including catering, cleaning, energy management and security, as well as maintenance of some aspects of the buildings and fittings.
Ruby McGregor-Smith, chief executive of Mitie, said: “We are delighted to be working with Sky and look forward to creating what will be a truly collaborative partnership.
“Sky is a dynamic company and Mitie will ensure the facilities management strategy brings the highest quality services, value and innovation to its business.”
On Monday, Mitie, which employs some 8,000 staff in Scotland out of a UK workforce of around 65,000, unveiled a £70m contract with a housing association in Kent.
The firm also recently completed a project to build an on-site wind turbine at Sky’s new broadcast facility, Sky Studios, in London.
