Business briefs: Lightbody refurb gains two tenants | Confidence slips on eurozone concerns | RSM Tenon

Property agents welcomed two lettings at 45 West Nile Street in Glasgow after a successful refurbishment by landlord and bakery entrepreneur Martin Lightbody.

Agents GVA and Jones Lang LaSalle signed up insurer Catlin to take an office on the fourth floor at £14 per sq ft on a ten-year lease, while building consultancy Adams Consulting took office space on the third floor, with one unit remaining.

Confidence slips on eurozone concerns

More than one-third of global executives expect headcount to shrink in the next 12 months, although concerns about rising costs of commodities and labour rates have “significantly declined”, a report has revealed.

The percentage of executives anticipating revenue growth fell from 69 to 59 per cent on fears over the eurozone and slowing emerging markets, according to a survey by member-based advisory firm CEB.

RSM Tenon slumps £8.9m into the red

Accountancy firm RSM Tenon yesterday reported an underlying operating loss of £8.9 million, compared with a profit of £18.5m a year earlier.

The group, which advises some 10,000 businesses, has undergone a series of management changes to try to improve its performance. Net debt in the year to 30 June rose to £78.3m from £68.2m last year. Shares jumped 17.5 per cent to 6.44p as analysts said the firm had turned a corner.
