Shares in Pinnacle Technology jumped as much as 7 per cent yesterday after the Stirlingshire-based firm signed an exclusive distribution deal for “virtual desktop” software made by Welsh group DVS Soft.
Under the deal, with covers the UK and Europe, Aim-quoted Pinnacle will market and distribute software that allows users to connect to Windows computers and applications from anywhere in the world using a range of devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.
Chief executive Alan Bonner said the growing trend for mobile working had led to increased demand for services that let employees access corporate networks remotely and securely.
He added: “Preventing important data from falling into the wrong hands is one of the biggest fears and this solution allows employees, regardless of the size of the business, to safely and securely connect to their company desktops from anywhere in the world.”
DVS managing director Bill McCormick said: “With Pinnacle’s experience in the areas of mobility, connectivity, IT support and security, we are convinced that we have chosen the right partner to attack a growing wider market.”
Pinnacle is best known for providing broadband and other data services at large events such as BBC Radio 1’s “big weekend” concert in Hackney and last year’s royal wedding.
However, the firm has been expanding into broader computer services, and last year took over Fife-based MacLellan IT in a £1 million all-share deal.
Bonner said: “Over the last few years, Pinnacle has evolved from a telecoms-centric business, into a premier provider of converged managed services and we are very excited to be working with Bill and his team at DVS.”
Following an early surge in its shares, Pinnacle closed 4.4 per cent higher at 0.35p.
