TWO Scottish computing companies are targeting further international growth after one unveiled bumper profits and the other hired a big-name adviser.
Aberdeen-based software firm Absoft posted a 168 per cent rise to £738,000, after growth in Norway helped the company to increase turnover by 36 per cent to £8.4 million.
Meanwhile, Inchinnan-based IT firm Amor Group has signed former UK government chief information officer, Joe Harley, as a non-executive adviser following his retirement earlier this year from the civil service.
Absoft managing director Ian Mechie said his firm – which took over Warrington-based Hexarus Consulting in March – had won further work in the oil and gas, higher education and public services sectors.
“Securing a profit rise of 168 per cent has proved that our strategy is working and with that in mind, we will continue to pursue further growth,” Mechie said.
John Innes, chief executive at Amor Group, which has offices in Dubai and Houston, said: “We are proud to have attracted someone with the reputation of Joe Harley.
“A man of his calibre will be a great strategic addition to our company and his appointment demonstrates the status of Amor Group in today’s market.”
