STAFF from collapsed law firm Semple Fraser are waiting to see if noises from rival practices will materialise into solid job offers after the business fell into administration over the weekend.
Tom MacLennan and Kenny Craig, partners at RSM Tenon, were on Saturday named as administrators of Semple Fraser’s limited liability partnership and sister firm Semple Fraser Services.
The firm’s Manchester operations have been sold to Weightmans, saving 14 jobs. It will now open an office in Glasgow, after hiring a partner and two staff members from Semple Fraser.
Maclay Murray & Spens has hired seven partners in Glasgow and Edinburgh, while Dundas & Wilson has taken on six partners in Edinburgh. Three partners have joined other practices in Edinburgh.
It is understood that some of the firms which have taken on staff are assessing whether to recruit more of those losing their jobs.
