LAW firm Maclay Murray & Spens (MMS) last night announced it had taken on seven partners from its fallen rival Semple Fraser, including its managing partner Simon Etchells.
Earlier this week, Semple became the first major casualty among Scottish law firms when it announced it was calling in administrators after having “considered every possible option to secure the future of the business”.
Chris Smylie, chief executive of MMS, said he expected to announce “further senior lateral hires very soon”.
The partners who will join MMS on Monday are: Etchells; Joanna Campbell-Smith; Bill Fowler, Semple Fraser’s head of corporate, renewables & energy; Paul Haniford; Colin Keenan; Barry McKeown and Anju Suneja.
