Aberdeen-based energy services firm Wood Group has won an engineering contract for an offshore platform in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.
The group’s Houston-based Mustang subsidiary will design the 13,700-tonne topsides facility for the Ivar Aasen oil and gas platform, which will be operated by Norwegian firm Det Norske.
Wood Group Mustang president Steve Knowles said up to 200 people across its London and Kuala Lumpur offices will work on the contract, which was awarded by Det Norske’s engineering and procurement contractor, Singapore-based SMOE.
He added: “We are looking forward to starting work on Det Norske’s first major facility and developing an excellent relationship with them, in addition to enhancing our existing relationship with SMOE.”
