Farming: Midlock leads at Blackface show

The Royal Highland Show champion, a home-bred ewe from J Wight & Sons, Midlock, scooped the overall championship at the Blackface Sheep Breeders’ Association national show at Stirling.

Reserve went to the Highland show reserve from Bill Ramsay & Sons, Milnmark, a home-bred gimmer.

Midlock also took the champion male, with a Nunnerie-bred shearling which they purchased for £35,000 in partnership with Connachan and Dalchirla. Reserve male went to Stuart Heads and Rab McInnis from Aitkenhead with a home-bred tup lamb.

The north section saw Matthew Hamilton from Woolfords lift the overall championship ticket with a home-bred Shearling.

Reserve was David Nicol from Viewmount with a home-bred tup lamb.

Champion female was won by Woolfords with a gimmer, with Stephen Duncan, from Achdregnie, taking reserve female spot with a home-bred ewe.
