A FORMER investment banker at Morgan Stanley has taken one of the top roles at the Green Investment Bank (GIB).
Robert Mansley has been appointed managing director of capital markets at the Edinburgh-headquartered organisation.
He was previously head of European renewables for Morgan Stanley in London and also worked for ten years in Credit Suisse’s European power and utilities team.
During his career, Mansley has been involved in more than 40 transactions worth a total of more than £18 billion in the sector.
Shaun Kingsbury, chief executive of the GIB, said Mansley brought a “wealth of experience in the global renewable and utilities industry”.
“He has a strong understanding of the issues and challenges our business faces. His expertise will be essential to the bank in developing opportunities,” he said.
The bank has £3bn of funding from the UK government and aims to accelerate the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy.
The GIB, which became fully operational in October, is focusing on priority sectors including offshore wind, waste treatment and energy efficiency. Last month Peter Knott, former head of operational risk at banking giant Standard Chartered, was appointed as its chief risk officer.
