A FORMER technical director at American computer giant Cisco Systems has joined fast-growing Scottish technology consultancy FarrPoint to expand its reach into the private sector.
Richard Moir joins the Edinburgh-based firm after 15 years at Cisco and 23 years in total within the information technology (IT) industry.
Chief executive Andrew Muir, who founded FarrPoint in 2007, has unveiled a three-year growth plan for the business, which had previously focused on central and local government and the health service.
“We’re delighted to welcome Richard to the FarrPoint team,” said Muir. “He brings with him a wealth of experience and understanding of current market, technology and industry trends and is already an asset to the business.”
The technology company’s recent projects have included offering advice to clients on broadband, “cloud computing” – in which data and programs are accessed remotely via the internet rather than being stored on standalone computer terminals – and telephone services.
