TAYSIDE’S largest legal practice has appointed a pair of associates with close links to Dundee University.

Vikki Long, who has been working as a researcher at the university, will bring her expertise in “banking and finance, corporate, private equity funds and Scottish limited partnerships” to Dundee-based Thorntons.

Long, who spent eight years working as a solicitor at Burness before joining the university, said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining Thorntons.

“The team has an abundance of experience working with an extensive range of clients and I am looking forward to settling into my new role and delivering excellent results for the firm.”

Lesley Larg, head of business law at Thorntons, added: “Vicki is an excellent addition to our team as her knowledge and expertise in her field is first class. ”

Meanwhile, Amanda Wilson – who specialises in family law, has been promoted to the rank of associate within the firm’s litigation team.

Wilson joined the firm in 2005 as a trainee solicitor. She is a member of the Family Law Association and is a professional ethics tutor for the legal practice diploma at Dundee University.

Stephen Brand, head of the family law team, said: “With her experience and skills, Amanda has always been an invaluable asset to the family law team and in her new role as associate she will continue to provide our clients with an excellent service.”
