A FILM distributor from Glasgow has won a contract from Paramount Pictures to bring classic movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s, pictured, The Godfather and Saturday Night Fever back to the big screen.
Park Circus Films – which already has deals in place with MGM, Walt Disney and Warner Bros – will licence the movies to cinemas, exhibitions and festivals.
Joint managing directors Nick Varley and John Letham, who set up Park Circus in 2003, negotiated the deal with United International Pictures (UIP), a joint venture set up by Paramount and Universal to market the two companies’ films.
UIP executive director David Bristow said: “It’s not hard to be impressed by the passion, energy and expertise of Nick, John and their team. We are excited to be working with them on Paramount’s spectacular library.”
Paramount senior vice-president John Mirisch added: “This new arrangement will allow gems from our rich library to be shown to new audiences in cinemas, as they were intended to be seen.”
