SCOTS receiving certain benefit payments can buy discounted Christmas stamps, under an initiative aimed at easing financial pressures over the festive season.

The Royal Mail Christmas Stamp scheme allows qualifying customers to buy up to 36 stamps, at last year’s prices, when first and second class stamps cost 46p and 36p. The stamps can be a mixture of first and second, but have to be bought all at once.

Scots on pension credit, employment and support, incapacity benefit or unemployability supplement can buy them.

To qualify for the stamps, which are available until Christmas Eve, customers supply a letter from the Department for Work and Pensions showing the relevant benefits. People on employment and support or incapacity benefit can provide a Post Office card account statement listing one of those benefits.
