INDUSTRIAL components maker Anderson Precision Gearing has secured a £1.6 million regional selective assistance grant from Scottish Enterprise and £2.4m of lending from Barclays.

The Motherwell-based firm was bought out of liquidation in 2010 by Coventry-based Pailton Engineering Group, which took the headcount from 13 to 46.

Betfair says Greek rules are not fair

Online bookmaker Betfair is to pull out of Greece after claiming the country’s new gambling regulations are “inconsistent with European law”.

Its move follows plans by the Greek gaming commission to impose financial penalties and criminal sanctions against firms that continued to operate in the country without a permit.

Intertek’s £4m for Dutch tester LSI

Industrial services firm Intertek, which appointed Scottish Enterprise boss Lena Wilson as a non-executive director in July, has paid

£4 million in cash for a 75 per cent stake in Dutch minerals testing specialist LSI.

Intertek specialises in testing products for other firms and the group’s chief executive, Wolfhart Hauser, said: “LSI adds new world-class trade reference testing capabilities to our minerals business.”
