Lobsters and langoustines from Scotland will soon be found on the plates of 20 Michelin-starred restaurants in Tokyo after a Perthshire seafood supplier tripled its orders from Japan.
The Scottish Deli, which has stores in Dunkeld and Pitlochry, secured the new business following a trade mission to the Far East organised by Scottish Development International (SDI) and Scotland Food and Drink.
Managing director Alec Cruikshank said: “Visiting Japan and China last week really helped to open my eyes to the huge opportunities across Asia and develop new contacts.
“We already had our next shipment to Japan planned but after meeting our importer, they decided to increase the order threefold and they’re committed to taking more of our products in the future.”
The firm was among 17 Scottish businesses that visited China and Japan as part of the trade mission.
