Rolls-Royce has won a £12 million order to design and equip two offshore supply vessels in China.
The vessels will be designed specifically for transporting solid and liquid cargo to and from offshore oil and gas platforms worldwide.
They will be built at the shipyard of customer Jiangsu Eastern Heavy Industries in China and are due for delivery in 2014.
Anders Almestad, president of Rolls-Royce’s offshore marine division, said the contract further strengthened the company’s presence in China.
In addition to the design of the vessels, Rolls-Royce will supply equipment, including the main engines, deck machinery and steering gears.
More than 180 similar vessels have gone into service or are on order with Rolls-Royce since the design was introduced in 1996.
