SMART card developer Ecebs has been sold to Rotterdam-based software firm Bell ID for an undisclosed sum.
The East Kilbride-based company, which employs 45, was sold by online ticketing firm The Train Line.
Russell McCullagh, chief technology officer and one of the firm’s founders in 2000, said he expected the deal would enable Ecebs to expand internationally. He said: “It gives us the opportunity to grow into other areas we really wanted to and that is not just UK.”
Ecebs is currently developing ticketing technology SPT and has expanded into the wider payment sector and identification market.
Pat Curran, Bell ID’s executive chairman, said: “We can provide the right environment to help take their expertise and activities to the next level.”
