Business briefs: Carr’s grinds out 11.5% divi hike

Agricultural supplies group Carr’s Milling Industries, which is investing £17 million in a new flour mill in Kirkcaldy, has proposed an 11.5 per cent increase in its final dividend to 14.5p after unveiling a 30.5 per cent jump in full-year pre-tax profits to £13.1m.

The Carlisle-based firm said the mill should boost profits at its food division when it opens for business in September.

Dignity reports rising profits

Dignity, the UK’s only listed provider of funeral services, has reported a 10 per cent increase in profits for the first nine months of the year.

The firm, which has roots in Glasgow and runs 37 crematoria across the UK, said underlying operating profits rose to £53.4 million for the 39 weeks to 28 September, up from £48.4m a year earlier, on revenues 8.7 per cent higher at £169.4m.

Textiles firm looks forward - and back

the Innovation Space and Museum at Tayport textiles business Scott & Fyfe, designed with the help of Glasgow School of Art students and a graduate intern from Duncan of Jordanstone College, has been opened by finance secretary John Swinney. Chairman Nick Kuenssberg said: “The museum looks back to the company’s heritage. The innovation space looks forward to the new innovation-led strategy.”
