Mears in £24m swoop for rival

Mears, the social housing repair specialist, has acquired loss-making rival Morrison Facilities Services (MFS) for £24 million.

The tie-up will see two of the UK’s biggest repair and maintenance firms come together. It hands Mears a number of new clients including North Lanarkshire Council.

MFS has been bought from construction group Morrison, part of Anglian Water. Mears said it had an “excellent track record” in extracting “substantial value” from acquired businesses.
