LEES Foods, which earlier this year completed a management buy-out, has appointed online entrepreneur Charles Shaw as non-executive chairman.
Shaw – a former whisky industry executive and co-founder of 5pm.co.uk – joins the five-strong team led by chief executive Clive Miquel which took the macaroon-maker into private ownership in July.
The move to de-list from the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) was opposed by a substantial minority of independent shareholders.
The chairman’s seat at Lees was vacant throughout the saga, with no replacement appointed after the death of previous non-executive Chris Greig in February.
Shaw set up online booking specialist 5pm in 2000, offering reduced prices on restaurant reservations made at the last minute.
