AMERICAN fabric maker WL Gore & Associates yesterday lifted the lid on a £5 million upgrade of its Gore-Tex factory at Livingston, understood to be the biggest investment in the plant since Margaret Thatcher opened the facility in 1984.
Enterprise minister Fergus Ewing officially opened the revamped factory, one of two Gore-Tex plants in the West Lothian town. The company also has a facility in Dundee and employs almost 700 staff in Scotland.
Justin King, manufacturing leader at the plant, said: “The Kirkton Campus facility was ahead of its time when it was built 28 years ago and has played a key role in our European business strategy. The investment in the plant reflects its importance to our business.”
